About the tea
Pu-Erh or Pu-er teas are a unique type of tea that undergoes a fascinating process of fermentation. After the initial production, the tea leaves are re-hydrated, allowing for a second fermentation process, known as post-fermentation. This distinctive technique sets Pu-Erh apart from other teas, resulting in its complex and evolving flavour profile.
To further enhance its character, Pu-Erh teas are aged in cool cellars or even buried in the ground for years. This ageing process transforms the tea’s appearance, turning the leaves into a dark to light brown hue. The flavour also deepens, developing a strong, spicy, and earthy taste. Depending on the brewing time, you can experience a range of flavours, from earthy and woody to more nuanced and complex notes.
When brewed, Pu-Erh tea yields a dark, reddish infusion. To fully appreciate its unique taste, it’s best enjoyed without milk or other additives. This allows the tea’s natural flavours to shine through, offering a truly authentic and satisfying drinking experience.
